The current contemporary art center and cultural space in the Arganzuela district was originally built as Madrid's municipal slaughterhouse and livestock market. Today, its various galleries host a wide range of exhibitions, plays, art installations, films, and cultural events. Interestingly, its enormous and distinctive water tower was one of five that its architect, Luis Bellido, planned to build in 1910 to supply the complex with water. Ultimately, only one was built, and over time, it has become a symbol of Legazpi.
