Atalanta Fed Up is an illustration that reimagines the classic myth from a modern and lighthearted perspective. Iván Solbes' work portrays the legendary figure transformed into a lioness, condemned to pull Cybele's chariot at Madrid's Fountain of Cibeles, but this time with a touch of humor and weariness. After more than 200 years of enduring her mythological fate—unable to look at her husband Hippomenes, under a lion's mane sculpted in 1782 by Roberto Michel, and with an incessant jet of water falling onto her Toledo marble forehead—Atalanta has had enough. This illustration captures that exhaustion with irony, imagining a heroine who wishes someone would write a new chapter of her story where she fares better. A piece that combines classical mythology with contemporary critique, perfect for those who appreciate art that plays with tradition and humor.
